RADICAL JOY: Gather ’round the stage this January for an OUTspoken Sessions storytime unlike any you’ve experienced before. We will share what brings joy to our lives as we break in the new year and celebrate Equal Action‘s 10-year anniversary. Let’s be Radical and unveil our joy through spoken word, song, dance, or whichever craft you enjoy.
FUNDRAISER: We ask for a $5 cover to provide aid to our community spotlight, Roots of Resistance, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
FOOD: Vegan Chili, cornbread, potato salad, dessert and beverages will be available throughout the night
VENDOR BAZAAR: Come meet your local LGBTQIA+ artists, zinesters, and healers. Make sure to stop by and check out the local orgs that will be tabling: Roots of Resistance, Edie Zermeno Print Art, LA Worm Farm Collective, LA Spoonie Collective!
DRUM & MOVEMENT CIRCLE: We invite you to make music and move as a community with us at the end with Jaden Fields & Destin Fox Cortez playing the drums.
HOSTS: Get ready for side-busting banter from your co-emcees Jaden Fields and Rajah Olivia Jones. They will lead us through the evening’s open mic slots and featured artist interviews.
OPEN MIC: five-minute maximum performance slots will be open on a first come, first serve basis and are available to folks of all skill levels!
COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Roots of Resistance
Roots of Resistance offers remedies and consultation for survivors, the chronically sick and disabled — with particular focus on pain management, mental health, and building vitality.

SAD GIRLS: Sad girls is a doo wop 60s girl group inspired queer rocknroll band based in Los Angeles. The group is comprised of Rachel , Manny, & Bianca: three femme identified females who enjoy listening to oldies and process their feelings together.
AUDREY KUO: Audrey Kuo is a poet, writer, and community organizer who is deeply invested in building networks among queer and trans people of color working toward collective liberation, grounded in healing justice and disability justice. Their work is shaped by their identity as a queer, genderqueer second-generation Taiwanese-American.
As co-chair of the Trans Justice Committee for NQAPIA, Audrey is co-visioning a trans freedom school for transgender and gender nonconforming Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Audrey also organizes with Vigilant Love, APIs 4 Black Lives – Los Angeles, and Healing Justice LA. Audrey also bakes bread and appreciates being introduced to your puppies and kittens.
QTPI XPRESS: QTPi Xpress were born out of the ashes of the last presidential election last November at the first ever Transgress Fest. QTPi Xpress are an unadulterated middle finger to heteronormativity. QTPi Xpress are fueled by the tears of men, racists, misogynists, bigots, & snuggles.
Since July 2009, OUTspoken Sessions has been an open mic and safe space for LGBTQIA+ (and ally) folks. Equal Action will be your hosts. We welcome all skill levels. There is no competition here. First timers welcome, you will be celebrated and always receive loving energy from your audience.
